The web-enabled database for the I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder County, designed by mtnTop.com, has a highly functional and friendly user interface. Using Javascript and ASP, the interface incorporates very complex logic to make the underlying mass of data respond in a simple and intuitive way. The system was initially deployed on IHAD Boulder's local network using MSDE (a free, scaled-down database engine provided by Microsoft) on the back-end. The database has since been seamlessly upgraded to SQL Server 2000 and is now hosted by mtnTop.com using 128 bit SSL encryption. The move was made to allow all volunteers to enter their hours worked and notes remotely, and to take advantage of mtnTop.com's reliable connectivity and thorough back-up services.
